Quality Indicators Resource Package Now Available

The National Quality Council agreed that 2009 would be a transitional year for implementation of the Quality Indicators. RTOs will only be required to report on the competency completion indicator for 2008 activity by 1 July 2009.

In the meantime please familiarise yourself with the resources and complete the online survey (look for the link on the front page of the Resource Package website) to assist the Australian Council for Educational Research manage the on line learner and employer survey system that is a feature of this resource package.

RTO update 5 January 2009 - Quality Indicators Information Sessions

Information sessions will be conducted between February and April 2009 to help RTOs develop an understanding of the AQTF 2007 Quality Indicators, and associated instruments and collection systems.

Each RTO is invited to send up to two representatives who would be best placed to lead subsequent organisational planning and development. Session dates, times and locations are available via the online registration form.

RTO update 12 December 2008 - Quality Indicators Resource Package Now Available

The Quality Indicators Resources Package is now available for review and download.

The National Quality Council has agreed that 2009 will be a transitional year for implementation of the Quality Indicators. RTOs will only be required to report on the competency completion indicator for 2008 activity by 1 July 2009.

On 1 July 2009 it is optional for RTOs to report on the learner engagement and employer satisfaction Quality Indicators. RTOs will be required to report on all three Quality Indicators for 2009 activity on 1 July 2010.

Information sessions on the Quality Indicator Resource Package will be conducted in each state and territory in the first quarter of 2009. Further information and details will be provided to you early in 2009.

RTO update 16 September 2008 - AQTF 2007 Quality Indicators

The Quality Standing Committee (QSC) of the National Quality Council (NQC) has decided to postpone the deployment of the Quality Indicators Resource Package and the supporting information sessions.

The QSC have referred a range of issues associated with the AQTF Quality Indicators Resource Package and the use of the Quality Indicators to the NQC for consideration. It is anticipated that the NQC will consider these at its meeting on 25 September 2008.

RTO update 15 May 2008 - AQTF 2007 Quality Indicator update.

Further to the advice provided in the RTO update of 1 January 2008, the Quality Indicators resource package will now be available from August 2008 with the supporting information sessions to follow in September and October. The contents of the resource package will include survey instruments, an RTO guide and data collection and reporting software.

RTO update 1 January 2008 - Coming together as a complete system.

AQTF 2007 has now been in place for six months. The new standards have been well received by those using them in this initial phase – feedback from training organisations, states and territories, auditors and industry has been positive. The new arrangements will be strengthened by the components yet to be introduced - the quality indicators and the excellence criteria - both of which are due for implementation in 2008.

The AQTF 2007 Essential Standards for Registration provide for information to be gathered against agreed quality indicators. This suite of information will be used by RTOs to support continuous improvement, and by registering bodies as part of their risk assessment.

RTO update April 2007 - Countdown to implementation

With only three months to go until the implementation of AQTF 2007 there’s plenty of preparation work going on to meet the 1 July deadline. The National Quality Council has now endorsed the Essential Standards for Registration and the Standards for Registering Bodies. Ministerial approval is expected by the end of April and both sets of standards will be ready for use at RTO workshops across the country in May and June.

RTO update January 2007 - A better system for everyone

The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) has been revised, and from 1 July 2007 RTOs will benefit from the improvements of its successor, AQTF 2007. Outcomes-focussed audits will allow RTOs to focus more on the quality of the outcomes of their training and assessment, which in turn will give industry greater confidence in the outcomes of training.
