How to register in Victoria

In Victoria, registration of RTOs is regulated through the Victorian Qualifications Authority Act 2000. Registration is managed by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA).

The process is in three parts:

1. Collecting information

a) Read and understand the following document to ensure your organisation meets these standards:

b) Consider attending an RTO pre-registration information session. The VRQA conducts free pre-registration information sessions for prospective RTOs. To book a place at the next available session, please email QAR@edumail.vic.gov.au directly or FAX (03) 9651 3233

2. Preparing and Applying

a) Complete AQTF Form A Application for Initial Registration or Renewal of Registration in Victoria and the attached statutory declaration. Ensure you include your organisation’s Certificate of Registration as a Company, Certificate of Incorporation and/or Certificate of Registration of Business Name as required.

b) Deposit the registration fee (payable to the VRQA).Registration Fees Information outlines the fees approved by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority. You need to pay the application fee for registration and the first year annual registration fee.

c) Lodge the application. Your application will need to be lodged in hard copy format with the VRQA (P.O. Box 2317, Melbourne, 3001). You will need to attach proof of payment of the registration fees to your application.

3. Approval of registration

Your application will be reviewed and approval given when all requirements have been met. You will receive a Certificate of Registration, a Scope of Registration Certificate and a National Provider Number.

Length of registration is granted for a period of five years.
