How to register in the Australian Capital Territory

The ACT Accreditation and Registration Council (ARC) is responsible for the process of recognising training organisations that have the capacity to deliver, assess and issue qualifications for nationally recognised training.

The registration process is in four parts:

1. Preparation

a) Download the application form and the application guide from the ARC
b) Read and understand the following document from the RTO kit to ensure your organisation meets these standards:

The application process requires you to:

  • provide a profile of the organisation
  • detail the type of training the organisation will deliver
  • sign a declaration for registration
  • sign and agree to adhere to the ARC Code of Practice.

3. Approval of application

ARC will process your application and contact you concerning:

  • any additional information required
  • a proposed date and arrangements for a visit to assess how your organisation meets the AQTF Essential Conditions and Standards for Initial Registration.

4. Length of registration

Registration is initially for 12 months. A monitoring audit is conducted prior to the expiry of the initial registration to determine if an RTO can be registered for another four years. During this time, RTOs will undertake annual self-assessment/review.
