A training plan specifies the training that must be delivered to the Australian Apprentice by both the employer for on-the-job training and a registered training organisation (RTO) for off-the-job training.
The training plan is negotiated by the employer and the Australian Apprentice together with their RTO of choice. It must be submitted to the state or territory training authority (STA) in conjunction with the Australian Apprenticeship/Traineeship Training Contract at the commencement of the Australian Apprenticeship.
The training plan should specify:
-
the qualification issued on completion of the training plan
-
all skills required by the Australian Apprentice to perform the job competently
-
the training to be delivered by the employer
-
the training to be delivered by the RTO
-
the end date of the Australian Apprenticeship
-
units of competency that the Australian Apprentice must achieve together with the expected completion date for each
-
any units of competency that the Australian Apprentice has already completed that are of relevance (recognition of prior learning)
-
learning resources that will be provided to the Australian Apprentice
-
any additional support the Australian Apprentice may require if there are identified barriers to learning, for example poor literacy and numeracy skills
-
how and when the RTO plans to monitor and assess the Australian Apprentice's progress
-
arrangements the RTO will use to report back to the employer and Australian Apprentice on progress with the training.
You can use the training plan as a tool for monitoring and checking the Australian Apprentice's progress against the listed completion dates of the required units of competency.
At the end of the Australian Apprenticeship the RTO will issue the Australian Apprentice with the appropriate qualification if it is satisfied that the Australian Apprentice has reached all the training goals set out in the plan.
At the end of the Australian Apprenticeship the RTO will certify that the Australian Apprentice has reached all the training goals set out in the plan required to achieve the qualification.
