Roles of industry councils

Industry skills councils (ISCs) are a powerful voice in Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) system. Their key roles are to:

  • provide accurate industry intelligence to the VET sector about current and future skill needs and training requirements
  • support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality training products and services that are nationally recognised, including Training Packages.

ISCs are industry owned and managed by the industries they represent. They are funded by the Australian Government and industry member organisations.

For RTOs they are a valuable source of market intelligence and industry trends.
