There are likely to be around 179,000 job openings in the Aged Care Sector over the next 5 years (that’s about 35,800 a year). | Get started in a career in aged care and learn the practical skills and knowledge needed to provide individual support to elderly clients. Open Colleges’ online Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) is an entry-level qualification that can get you working as an Aged Care support Worker. | If you have a passion for helping those most in need, this qualification is one way you can utilise your knowledge for the benefit of others. The Aged Care and Disability sector is one of Australia’s largest and fastest growing service industries. In 2021, 266,900 persons were employed in the Aged Care and Disability sector, and it is estimated to grow to 341,800 by 2026. This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support. | Train to support older people and their physical and mental health needs with this great distance learning course. This course considers the different issues that are faced by older people, such as retirement, lifestyle changes, bereavement, chronic illness, terminal illness and death and how to provide these individuals with appropriate support. Although many aspects of counselling are directly applicable to all age groups, working with the elderly also requires a different set of skills and knowledge to ensure that elderly clients receive appropriate support. Younger people often struggle to envisage what it might be like to be elderly, but if they are able to gain insight into the ageing process they are much better at empathising with their needs. | This course prepares students to offer person-centered support to people who may require assistance due to ageing, disability, or other reasons. This qualification is ideal for those looking to embark on a caregiving career, offering comprehensive training and real-world experience in supporting aged and disabled individuals. It opens a range of career opportunities in a growing sector and provides a foundation for further professional development. | The world needs dedicated compassionate carers. With an aging population, aged care providers are increasingly in demand nationwide. In this course, you’ll learn all the skills needed to thrive as a caregiver, whether in a home setting, in a community or in a registered home care facility. You will learn both the hard skills, such as safety procedures and aged care-related legal and ethical knowledge, as well as critically important soft skills like working effectively with older people and counselling those who have been diagnosed with illness. | If you have a passion for helping those most in need, studying a Certificate 3 in Individual Support Ageing is one way you can utilise your knowledge for the benefit of others.
