According to the Job Outlook website, as published by the Australian Government, job openings for General Clerks are expected to exceed 50,000 over the next three years*. If you’re interested in entering the business sphere and taking on a variety of clerical duties, equip yourself with the foundation knowledge of administration operations with the Certificate III in Business.
This qualification will demonstrate to employers that you have the skills and knowledge to succeed as a General Clerk, Payroll Officer, Customer Service Advisor, Data Entry Operator or Typist. More specifically, the Certificate III in Business will equip you with the skills required to deliver and monitor a service to customers, maintain financial records, process customer complaints, create electronic presentations and design and produce a range of business documents. You will advance your knowledge of customer service, accounting procedures, data systems and business technology, while further improving your broader office, computer and business skills.
If you are a quick learner who is both motivated and enthusiastic, there is opportunity to progress in your career and move into a more senior role with additional responsibility. Once you have graduated from this qualification, you can further expand your job prospects with additional study or on-the-job experience. You may choose to obtain a BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business or progress further with a BSB50215 Diploma of Business. In addition, your career in business also comes with the potential to work across other departments including, business administration, business sales or business management.

Duration and Study Load
Whilst there are no formal entry requirements mandated by the training package, students’ skills and capabilities to undertake this training product will be assessed and advice on suitability will be provided during the pre-enrolment process.
Students under the age of 18 years require the signed consent of a parent or guardian to enrol in this qualification.
You will need to be a permanent Australian resident or equivalent.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Given that some students may already be able to demonstrate their competence in some units, a recognition of prior learning (RPL) assessment process may be available to students to recognise skills and knowledge that may have been gained through formal and informal training and/or learning, work experience and life experience.

It applies to individuals who apply a broad range of competencies in various work contexts. In this role, individuals often exercise discretion and judgement using appropriate theoretical knowledge of customer service to provide technical advice and support to customers over short or long term interactions.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to gather, organise and apply workplace information in the context of an organisation’s work processes and knowledge management systems. It applies to individuals who perform a defined range of skilled operations in various work contexts. They may exercise discretion and judgement using appropriate knowledge of information management to provide technical advice and support to a team.
