Course Overview
In this Program you will develop the skills and knowledge to assist people who are affected by mental illness and psychiatric disability.
Working in the mental health sector can be a rewarding profession, where no two days are the same, our course focuses on strategies to ensure upon graduation you are able to effectively promote social, emotional and physical wellbeing.
With our flexible learning approach, we mix both practical and theoretical elements, with a blend of face-to-face and online components.
As part of this program, Students will be required to undertake a minimum 80 Hours Practical Placement in Community Contexts such as Community Based Non-Government Organisations; Home Based Outreach; Centre-Based Programs; Respite Care; Residential Services, Rehabilitation Programs; Clinical Settings.

Delivery
Face to Face Training
In-person Classroom-Based training delivered at TMG College Australia sites. Face to Face delivery includes both theory and practical activities which are supported by structured Work Placement.
Structured Work Placement
As part of this program, Students will be required to undertake a minimum 80 Hours Practical Placement in Community Contexts such as Community Based Non-Government Organisations; Home Based Outreach; Centre-Based Programs; Respite Care; Residential Services, Rehabilitation Programs; Clinical Settings.
Offsite Training
TMG College Australia can deliver training and undertake assessments using facilities at a Students Workplace, or in a mobile manner (e.g. delivery at a regional/remote location for a specific period or for a specific training course).
Mixed Mode Training
A combination of various delivery modes. Also known as “Mixed Delivery” or “Blended Learning”. This includes Online, Face to Face and Workplace Based.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this Program however Students are required to undertake a Pre-Training Review and a Language Literacy Numeracy and Digital Literacy Assessment.
These will assist with determining suitability and relevance into course entry and identification of any support needs.
The ability to obtain a Police Check – Police Check required for Industry Work Placement

Work Placement
Students are required to undertake a minimum of 80 hours work placement in a regulated environment.
Students must have the current National Police Check and Working With Children Check prior to the commencement of their work placement.
Recognition of Prior Learning
We provide Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) where student work experience or qualifications of an advanced and related nature have been undertaken. RPL result is subject to the quality and amount of the evidence submitted by the Student to TMG.

Credit Transfer
We provide Credit Transfer with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification, if the CT request is equivalent in content and learning outcomes with TMG’s matched qualifications.

The CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health requires 15 units of competency.

CHCMHS005 – Provide services to people with co-existing mental health and alcohol and other drugs issues
CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma informed care
CHCMHS008 – Promote and facilitate self-advocacy
CHCMHS011 – Assess and promote social, emotional and physical wellbeing
HLTWHS001 – Participate in work health and safety
Elective Units:
CHCDIS007 – Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability
CHCPRP003 – Reflect on and improve own professional practice
CHCCCS003 – Increase the safety of individuals at risk of suicide
CHCAOD006 – Provide interventions for people with alcohol and other drugs issues
