The CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health is the ideal course for those who want to enter Australia’s challenging yet rewarding mental health services workforce. Our Certificate IV in Mental Health course will equip you with knowledge and practical skills to assist and lead people affected by mental illness to get their lives back on track.
You will learn skills in supporting, communicating and working with individuals experiencing mental health issues, learn how to respond to critical situations, intervention strategies and more.
Our Certificate IV in Mental Health course will subject you to work placement of 80 hours to expose you to a real-world setting and allow you to apply and develop the skills you have learned.
The widespread shortage of mental health workers means there is a strong demand for people qualified in this field. Types of roles available include outreach worker, community worker and mental health worker.
Upon the completion of the CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health you will also be well placed to undertake further study.
The Jobs & Skills WA recognises the demand in Australia’s Mental Health Services. This nationally recognised course is heavily subsidised under their Jobs & Skills WA program – meaning you’ll be on your way to a fulfilling new career without having to worry about the costs involved.

Our CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health covers a range of content and skills to equip you in the mental health sector including; Self Directed Recovery, Mental Health Services, Trauma-Informed Care, Self-Advocacy, Respond to Crises, Provide Loss and Grief Support, Domestic Violence and more.

This course is offered either;
- Online Blended, with face-to-face classes in Perth, WA through the Jobs and Skills W – Lower Fees, Local Skills Subsidy
- Face-to-face at our Perth CBD Campus
TrainSmart Australia will assess a student’s ‘academic suitability’ to ensure the student has the best chance of success. This is determined by either:
- The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of an Australian year 12 certificate; or,
- The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of a Certificate III qualification (or above) that can be verified or,
- The student completing the Core Skills Profile for Adults online assessment passing at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy.
All prospective learners will attend a mandatory face to face career counselling session to assess their suitability for this Certificate IV level qualification.
You will receive dedicated trainer team support throughout your studies, with access to our student forums.
There is 80 hours of work placement required for this course.
Assessments are by way of written assignments and have a practical component. To achieve this qualification, you will be required to complete a range of practical activities (simulation exercises) either online or face-to-face.
TrainSmart Australia will give you advance notice so you can make necessary arrangements to ensure you are able to participate in these practical activities.
