Celebrancy Courses Increase in Popularity by Over 1600% in the Wake of Same-Sex Marriage Vote

As thousands around the country celebrate Parliament passing the bill to legalise same-sex marriage, thousands more are flocking to celebrancy courses to meet the sudden demand expected for wedding celebrants in the coming months. Student enquiries on the Certificate IV in Celebrancy alone increased by 1600% on the same day as the postal vote outcome and have remained twice as high as before the vote was announced.
Celebrancy Course Enquiries Following Same-Sex Marriage Vote
From the controversial postal vote all the way to Parliament, history was made in Australia yesterday when Parliament passed the bill to legalise gay marriage. In the wake of the #yesvote, Australians are taking the opportunity to celebrate this historic event, with thousands of couples expected to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage in the coming days, hinting at the sudden increase in marriage ceremonies to occur in January 2018.

At midnight tonight, the law will take complete effect, but over the past few weeks in the wake of the postal vote outcome, the number of celebrancy course enquiries has reached an all time high. The highest peak fell on November 15th, the same day as the postal vote outcome was released. Thousands of Australians flocked to their laptops in search of a course that could help ease the sudden demand that would follow the legalisation of same-sex marriage.
The number of enquiries on this day alone was over 1100% of the average number of enquiries on celebrancy courses before the postal survey outcome was announced and a 1600% increase from the enquiries on the day before. With same-sex marriage expected to boost the economy by as much as $650 million; careers as a marriage celebrant is a smart choice and one that many Australians jumped on following news of same-sex marriage being legalised.
With over 20,000 same-sex couples in Australia waiting egarly on news they could marry, the demand for marriage celebrants is set to surge to new heights in coming years. Since the postal vote, course enquiries on the Certificate IV in Celebrancy has been double what it was previously, with an influx expected again today following the bill being passed.
While the number of enquiries on celebrancy courses propelled past the 1100% mark nation-wide; New South Wales saw the greatest interest in Celebrancy, with 33% of all enquiries attributed to them, followed closely by Victoria and Queensland.
