In partnership with the Tasmanian Government, the University of Tasmania (UTAS) has organised an international education symposium to be held at Wrest Point from 14 -16 July. ‘The Transformative Nature of Education: underpinning Social and Economic Transformations’ symposium will also draw attention to the recently opened Peter Underwood Centre for Educational Attainment.
The benefits of education for individuals is well known. However, there has been increased divergence towards personally motivated ideals, often to the detriment of society as a whole. The symposium aims to shed light on education as a catalyst for economic and societal transformation. It’s hoped that a greater understanding of educational aspirations and attainments will provide institutions and students with the capability to make a positive change for all of society.
