University of Tasmania Values

University of Tasmania Campuses

Tasmania

UTas has three main campuses in Tasmania, totalling approximately 10,000 student enrolments. Each campus is large enough to offer a vibrant and unique learning environment, but still small enough to ensure friendly interaction between staff and students, and a strong focus on the individual.

• Sandy Bay, set on 100 hectares of land in the suburb of Sandy Bay, located about 35 minutes walk from the centre of Hobart. The campus overlooks the River Derwent and has the majestic Mount Wellington (Aboriginal: Kunanyi) as its backdrop. Much of the upper campus is in natural bushland.
• The Newnham campus is Launceston's main campus, looking down to the Tamar River, about 10 minutes from the city centre. Over 5000 students are enrolled at the Launceston campus.
• Cradle Coast was established in 1995 as the North-West Study Centre, it successfully caters for students and staff since completing its major expansion in 2008

Sydney

In addition, UTAS has two campuses in Sydney, where students can undertake the Bachelor of Nursing. The Sydney campuses are at Darlinghurst with St Vincent's and Mater Health Services and at Rozelle with the Sydney South West Area Health Service and South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service.

University of Tasmania Students

The University has a student population of around 29,000

Over 6,000 of these are international students

Approximately 1000 are PhD students

 Around 10 per cent of all domestic students at UTAS receive some sort of scholarship or financial assistance

There are over 90,000 graduates of the University of Tasmania across more than 120 countries

University of Tasmania Achievements

The Academic Ranking of World Universities 2013 ranked UTAS in the top 2% of universities worldwide

Also in 2013, the Australian Research Council's 'Excellence in Research for Australia' (ERA) initiative awarded UTAS world-standard or better in 16 broad discipline areas

In 2012, UTas received more teaching awards than any other Australian university
