Course Structure and Duration
Throughout the course you’ll dive deep into the anatomy and physiology of the human body, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how the body functions. This foundation will enable you to effectively identify and treat trigger points, as well as diagnose muscle pain and discomfort. You will also study the science and theory behind each massage technique and develop a solid grasp of ethical practice, work health and safety, and professional client consultation skills.
Practical Learning Experience
Practical learning is a key component of this course, with 200 hours of Clinical Hours included.
For those studying on campus, you will gain hands-on experience in our Remedial Massage Student Clinic, where you’ll apply your knowledge under the guidance of our qualified trainers and assessors.
For those studying online, your practical learning will be facilitated through eclinics under the direction of our qualified trainers and assesseors, and through clinic placements near you. If you live in Perth you may also do your practical hours at our Remedial Massage Student Clinic.
During these practical times, you’ll explore a range of massage techniques, understand their effects on muscle nerves, and create individualised treatment plans for effective pain management.
Additional Skills for Success
Beyond massage techniques, this course provides valuable knowledge in small business planning and marketing, equipping you with the skills to start and manage your own successful Remedial Massage Business.

Entry requirements
TrainSmart Australia will assess a student’s ‘academic suitability’ to ensure the student has the best chance of success. This is determined by either:

The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of an Australian year 12 certificate of education; or,
-
The student providing TrainSmart Australia with a copy of a Certificate IV qualification (or above) that was delivered as a part of the AQF (Australian Qualification Framework), that can be verified by the issuing organisation or the USI (unique student identifier) transcript or,
-
The student completing the Core Skills Profile for Adults online assessment passing at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in reading, writing, numeracy and digital literacy. TrainSmart Australia must also reasonably believe that the student displays that competence.
If you are unable to provide either of these, you will need to complete a free Online Reading, Writing, Numeracy and Digital Literacy test to gain entry into our course.

LearnLab: Our central space for online students to connect with trainers and stay on track with their studies. Through the weekly 2-hour LearnLab classes, you learn the skills needed for a successful career, and have the opportunity to receive academic guidance.

Optional Clinic Opportunities: Through affiliations with seven massage clinics across Perth, students may elect to pursue additional clinic experience.

Assessment
- Assessments are by way of written assignments and have a practical component. To achieve this qualification, you will be required to complete a range of practical activities (simulation exercises) with our trainers and assessors
- TrainSmart Australia will give you advance notice so you can make necessary arrangements to ensure you are able to participate in these practical activities
Materials
Students are required to provide their own equipment, including linens. An equipment list and sourcing information will be provided by the trainers at the beginning of the course.
