What does a bookkeeper do on a daily basis?

Maintain Financial Records: Keeping on them at all times a neat and easily digestible report of any financials you may require. Communicate on a Daily Basis: Keeping in contact with clients and any other financial industries involved in the finances of a business. Inventory and Budget Needs: Keeping track of any supplies or furniture which are purchased for any insurance needs. Ensuring the client meets a certain quota and doesn’t spend over a certain amount.
They are also responsible for the following:
  • Data entry
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Payroll
  • WorkCover remuneration calculations
  • Superannuation (maintain, payments)
If the bookkeeper is also an employee of a firm and are a registered BAS agent, they have the authority to prepare and charge for the following services:
  • Payroll tax
  • BAS’s/IAS’s
  • Management Reports
  • Workcover set up
  • Prepare work papers for the financials
