Duration study load

You can start the course at any time as it is a self-paced online course. Once you enrol, you will be assigned a course tutor who will be available for you to answer all your queries throughout the course.

  • The course duration is 3 years self paced with an option to extend a further 6 months

  • Recommended to study 12-15 hours a week

Delivery

This course is delivered online to students across Australia and around the world. Training will be delivered online using learning platforms and video conferencing. So study while you work or from home to enter into your new career.

Entry requirements

There are no pre-requisites for the CHC51015 – Diploma of Counselling, However, the ability to read, comprehend, discuss and analyse printed information in English and to write statements, solve basic problems and work effectively with clients, colleagues and supervisors are essential skills required to fulfil the work role.

Professional Recognition

Students who complete the CHC51015 – Diploma of Counselling receive a Nationally recognised qualification from the Australian Government and can register as counsellors with

  • We are a recognised provider with Australian Traditional Member Society (will be eligible to get Insurance through ATMS).

  • We are a recognised provider with International Institute of Complementary Therapists (will be eligible to get Insurance to practice with IICT).

  • Get registered as a Registered Counsellor with the Certified Practicing Counsellors Australia (will be eligible to get Insurance with CPCAUS).

  • Australian Community Counselling Association.

Assessment

Students are required to complete theory assessments and Performance Tasks for each Unit, the diploma has 17 units to complete.

  • Theory assessments online

  • Observation/Practical skills via zoom online

  • Simulated / Role Plays via zoom online

    NOTE: For role plays assessments for 7 units students MUST have their mock clients physically present in the room during the recorded assessment session while their trainer observes via zoom. This is a requirement by the governing body, Role play client be anyone above age of 18, could be family member or friend or colleague.
