The BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management is designed for existing and aspiring leaders, including team leaders, supervisors and middle managers. Develop practical skills in communication, emotional intelligence, workplace relationships, people performance and operational planning. Practise leading diverse teams and responding to realistic business situations through projects, case studies and role plays with your trainer and peers.

Duration study load

Designed for completion in 12 months (52 weeks): 48 weeks of scheduled study plus a 4-week study break. To follow this plan, allow approximately 26 hours each week: 3 hours of live Zoom classes, about 15 hours of self-paced learning and about 8 hours of assessment work.

Study outside the live class is self-paced. Extension and continued-access terms are pending confirmation; no unlimited-duration or automatic-extension promise is made.

Delivery

Online delivery combines live trainer-led Zoom classes with self-paced study in the aXcelerate learning management system. Units are released one at a time in a structured sequence. Complete practical tasks and role plays in a simulated workplace; no work placement is required. Optional monthly one-to-one trainer support and learner support check-ins are available.

Entry requirements

Applicants must be at least 18; be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a visa with full work and study rights; complete a pre-training LLND assessment; have a valid USI or be willing to obtain one; have sound computer skills including intermediate Microsoft Word; have a laptop or desktop and reliable internet for online learning and Zoom; and complete a Pre-Training Review interview to confirm eligibility and readiness.

Work placement

No work placement is required. Practical tasks and role plays are completed in a simulated workplace.

Recognition of prior learning

Recognition of Prior Learning and credit transfer are available subject to assessment under Hader’s policy and supporting evidence. Relevant previous work, study or training may count toward units. Enquire during enrolment about the evidence required. No automatic credit, fee reduction or shorter duration is promised.

Assessment

Assessment uses written knowledge questions, case studies, projects and practical role-play demonstrations in the Zoom virtual classroom, set in a simulated workplace. Activities may include developing an operational plan, working through a performance management case study, or leading a difficult conversation or team meeting. Your assessor provides feedback on each task.
