Government subsidised training for vocational and TAFE courses in ACT
The government may fully subsidise your tuition costs if you satisfy the eligibility criteria, allowing you to qualify for free training — so you can graduate debt-free.
In the Australian Capital Territory, three government funding programs are available. User Choice supports Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships. Skills Checkpoint supports older workers to retrain or upskill with personalised advice, guidance and subsidised training.
Courses are available through TAFEs and approved Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). At the time of enrolment, the government pays the training provider for the tuition fees. You may still need to pay for some facilities and services or study materials such as textbooks.
Funding for vocational education and training covers a range of courses at different levels and areas of skills, from certificate II to certificate III and IV qualifications and above. Funding is available across the ACT, whether in Canberra or anywhere in the state.
All funding programs require that you live and work in the ACT and that you are either an:
– Australian citizen
– Permanent resident
– New Zealand passport holder resident for more than six months
– Eligible visa holder.
