Our Certificate III and IV in Fitness bundle is designed for women who want to become qualified fitness professionals and build the knowledge, confidence and skills to support real clients.

Delivered online and self paced, this bundle includes both nationally recognised qualifications needed to work as a Personal Trainer, along with four bonus women’s health courses to help students better understand the female body through different stages of life.

Students will learn the foundations of fitness, exercise instruction, client screening, program design, strength training, group fitness and personal training, while also gaining additional education in pregnancy and postnatal training, perimenopause and menopause, menstrual cycle essentials, and pelvic floor and prolapse essentials.

This bundle is ideal for women who want a flexible pathway into the fitness industry, with a strong focus on training and supporting women.

Duration study load

The Certificate III and IV in Fitness bundle is self paced and completed online, so students can work through each qualification around their own schedule. Students have up to 12 months to complete the Certificate III and up to 12 months to complete the Certificate IV, giving them 24 months in total to complete both qualifications.

Many students complete the full bundle within approximately 6 to 12 months, depending on their weekly study time, prior knowledge and personal commitments.

As a guide, students wanting to complete the bundle within 6 to 12 months may allow around 6 to 10 hours per week, while students taking a slower pace may only need around 2 to 5 hours per week.

The bonus women’s health courses do not have a set completion timeframe, so students can continue working through these in their own time.

Delivery

The Certificate III and IV in Fitness bundle is delivered online through a flexible learning platform, with a variety of learning materials including written content, videos, activities and assessments to support students as they work through each qualification at their own pace.

Students also receive access to four bonus women’s health courses, which can be completed online in their own time.

Our Certificate III and IV in Fitness Bundle includes four bonus women’s health courses designed to help you confidently support female clients through different life stages.

You’ll learn about training during pregnancy and postnatal recovery, menopause and perimenopause, the menstrual cycle, and pelvic floor and prolapse considerations, giving you valuable specialist knowledge to complement your fitness qualifications.

Module 1: Health Appraisal
BSBPEF301 Organise personal work priorities

This unit develops the skills needed to manage your workload effectively in a fitness workplace. You will learn how to organise and prioritise tasks, create work schedules, monitor your performance, seek feedback and identify opportunities to maintain and improve your professional skills.

SISFFIT032Complete pre-exercise screening and service orientation

This unit covers how to conduct pre-exercise screening with new clients before they begin participating in fitness activities. You will learn how to collect relevant health and exercise information, identify potential risks, determine whether medical clearance or referral is required and introduce clients to appropriate fitness services and facility procedures.

SISFFIT033Complete client fitness assessments

This unit focuses on conducting fitness assessments to identify a client’s current fitness level, needs and goals. You will learn how to select suitable assessment methods, take measurements, explain and conduct assessments safely, interpret the results and provide appropriate feedback to the client.

SISFFIT052Provide healthy eating information

This unit covers how to provide general healthy eating information within the scope of practice of a fitness professional. You will learn how to use recognised Australian dietary guidelines, discuss healthy food choices and refer clients to an appropriately qualified health professional when their needs extend beyond your role.

Module 2: Exercise Instruction
SISFFIT040Develop and instruct gym-based exercise programs for individual clients

This unit teaches you how to develop and instruct tailored gym-based exercise programs for individual clients. You will use information from pre-exercise screening, fitness assessments, client goals and any medical guidance to plan safe and effective cardiovascular, resistance and flexibility exercises. You will also learn how to demonstrate technique, provide instruction, monitor client performance and evaluate or modify programs when needed.

SISFFIT047Use anatomy and physiology knowledge to support safe and effective exercise

This unit develops your understanding of how the major systems of the body respond and adapt to exercise. You will apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, joints, muscles, movement and energy systems when selecting exercises, teaching correct technique and helping clients exercise safely and effectively.

This unit covers the skills required to provide a positive and professional customer experience. You will learn how to identify customer needs, communicate clearly, deliver services according to workplace standards, respond to feedback and monitor the quality of the service provided.

Module 3: Group Fitness
HLTAID011Provide First Aid

This unit provides the practical skills and knowledge required to respond to an emergency and provide first aid until further medical assistance is available. It generally covers recognising an emergency, following first aid procedures, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, using an automated external defibrillator and responding to common injuries and medical conditions

SISFFIT035Plan group exercise sessions

This unit focuses on designing safe, structured and engaging exercise sessions for groups. You will learn how to consider participant characteristics, fitness levels and needs, establish session objectives, choose appropriate exercises, prepare equipment and plan warm-up, conditioning and cool-down activities.

SISFFIT036Instruct group exercise sessions

This unit covers how to safely lead and supervise group exercise sessions. You will learn how to explain and demonstrate activities, use effective verbal and visual cues, motivate participants, monitor technique and intensity, provide exercise modifications and respond appropriately to participant needs during the session. SISFFIT035 and SISFFIT036 together cover the planning and delivery of group exercise across different fitness settings.

This unit teaches you how to follow workplace health and safety procedures in a fitness environment. You will learn how to identify and report hazards, manage risks within your responsibilities, follow emergency procedures, use equipment safely and contribute to maintaining a safe workplace for clients, colleagues and visitors.

This unit introduces the process of identifying and researching potential business opportunities. You will learn how to explore business ideas, consider customer demand, research competitors, identify required resources and assess whether an opportunity may be practical and financially viable.

This unit covers how to identify, assess and manage risks that may affect a business. You will learn how to review the business environment, determine the likelihood and potential impact of risks, select suitable control measures and monitor whether risk management strategies are effective.

You will learn how to identify target customers, clarify the value of a product or service, research suitable promotional methods, prepare marketing strategies and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing activities.

This unit develops the skills required to support individual fitness clients with healthy eating habits that complement their exercise goals. You will learn how to discuss eating patterns, provide information based on recognised healthy eating guidelines, support clients to make practical changes and refer them to an appropriately qualified health professional when their needs fall outside a fitness professional’s scope of practice.

Module 2: Advanced Programming
SISFFIT049Use Exercise Science Principles in Fitness Instruction

This unit develops your understanding of the exercise science principles used when designing and modifying fitness programs. You will learn how principles such as overload, specificity, individualisation, adaptation, progression, regression and reversibility influence program design and client results. You will apply these principles when planning programs and making adjustments based on a client’s progress and changing needs.

This unit focuses on developing comprehensive exercise programs tailored to individual clients. You will learn how to use information from client consultations, pre-exercise screening, fitness assessments, goals and medical or allied health guidance to select appropriate exercises, training methods, intensities and program structures. You will also learn how to review progress and modify programs over time.

Module 3: Personal Training
SISFFIT043Develop and Instruct Personalised Exercise Programs for Body Composition Goals

This unit covers how to develop and deliver personalised exercise programs for clients who want to change their body composition. You will learn how to consider the client’s current health, exercise experience, lifestyle, goals and assessment results when planning cardiovascular and resistance training. You will also monitor progress and modify the program to support safe and realistic outcomes.

SISFFIT044Develop and Instruct Personalised Exercise Programs for Older Clients

This unit focuses on planning and delivering exercise programs that meet the needs of older adults. You will learn how age-related changes, health conditions, medications, mobility and functional capacity may affect exercise participation. You will use screening and assessment information to select, instruct and adapt safe exercise activities that support strength, balance, mobility, independence and overall wellbeing.

This unit develops the practical skills needed to deliver individual personal training sessions. You will learn how to prepare the training environment, explain and demonstrate exercises, provide effective instruction and feedback, monitor technique and exercise intensity and adjust activities according to the client’s performance and needs.

This unit focuses on safely teaching a range of strength and conditioning techniques to individuals or groups. You will learn how to prepare equipment, demonstrate correct movement technique, provide clear coaching cues, identify and correct errors and monitor participants throughout the session. Exercises may include resistance, speed, agility, power, endurance and conditioning activities.

This unit focuses on developing and delivering safe, age-appropriate exercise programs for adolescent clients. You will learn how growth, development, maturity, exercise experience and individual needs influence program design. You will also consider appropriate communication, consent, supervision and safety requirements when working with young clients.

SISFFIT051Establish and Maintain Professional Practice for Fitness Instruction

This unit covers the responsibilities involved in establishing and maintaining a professional fitness practice. You will learn about scope of practice, legal and ethical responsibilities, professional boundaries, insurance, permits, record keeping and ongoing professional development. It also considers how fitness services can be delivered responsibly in different environments, including outdoor and public spaces.

CHCCOM006Establish and Manage Client Relationships

This unit develops the communication skills needed to build and maintain positive professional relationships with clients. You will learn how to establish rapport, identify client needs and expectations, communicate respectfully, maintain professional boundaries, manage difficult situations and respond appropriately to feedback or concerns.
