Changes to TAFE in Tasmania
A few years ago, TasTAFE was initially known as TAFE Tasmania, which included two institutes – the Institute of TAFE Tasmania and the Drysdale Institute. It was then restructured into two separate entities in Jan 2009 – the Tasmanian Polytechnic (the merger of Tasmanian Colleges and TAFE Tasmania) and the Tasmania Skills Institute. The two worked independently until their merger on July 1, 2013, to then create TasTAFE; a new reformed body for Tasmania’s public sector post-compulsory vocational education and training. In blending the two establishments, TasTAFE is currently the leading Registered Training Organisation in Tasmania; overseeing all public sector TAFE and VET opportunities within the state.
