Why study TAFE in the ACT?

TAFE in ACT is facilitated through the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), which has provided technical qualifications in the capital region for 90 years.

Sometimes referred to as CIT Bruce, the institution is home to over 25,000 students and impacts more lives post-high school than any other tertiary educator in the ACT. Offering a broad range of qualifications, from photography courses to barista courses, there’s something for everyone.

CIT Canberra offers a range of courses from short courses and apprenticeships to diploma and bachelor-level programs. These courses are combined with flexible learning methods to suit your schedule and study needs, with many CIT short courses available online.

TAFE in Canberra offers support through Fee Assistance, which includes several scholarships, and financial assistance through student loan programs such as VET FEE-HELP. You also have the option to undertake an overseas experience with the Australian Government Department of Education’s VET Outbound Mobility Program to help fund the study experience.

TAFE campuses in the ACT

There are 6 different locations at TAFE Canberra.

The Canberra Institute of Technology delivers short courses throughout the capital, and unlike the University of Canberra courses, there are multiple locations to choose from. Centrally located and close to all major public transport, these campuses facilitate learning at the highest standard. The areas are designed to be a supportive and collaborative environment, with teachers and students working side by side.

There are also trade centres on campus, allowing you to understand not just the theoretical side, but also the practical skills taught in the numerous short courses in Canberra. There are also many places for students to relax in the nature-filled campuses around the capital, and facilities such as kitchens, lounges, Wi-Fi and more.

Although there is no CIT-related TAFE Queanbeyan, the newly renovated Tuggeranong campus in the south of Canberra caters to students wishing to study in the city.

  • CIT Bruce Campus
  • CIT Fyshwick Campus
  • CIT Gungahlin Campus
  • CIR Reid Campus
  • CIT Tuggeranong Campus
