7 Ways You Can Earn Money At Home
In this post
Though it may seem too good to be true, there are legitimate ways to make money from home using the internet. While you should always stay cautious of ads that proclaim easy money, this list consists of seven tried and true avenues that many people use to get a bit of extra money.
1. Virtual Assistant
A virtual assistant is someone who offers administrative services at a remote location, from companies to individuals. If you’re wondering what virtual assistants do exactly, it depends on what area they work in. A virtual assistant’s responsibilities may lie in social media management, bookkeeping and organising travel. All you need are a working internet connection, and a word processing/spreadsheet program and you’re good to go. With its flexible hours and little to no experience required, it’s the definitive option to make money online.
How to Become a Virtual Assistant
Would you like to work remotely? Do you like the idea of having your own business? Would you like the freedom to work part-time or full-time? Starting a virtual assistant business may be the career move you’ve been looking for!
2. Online Surveys
Before you get into this, ensure that the website you go to for your surveys is legitimate. There are plenty of scams out there. The best way to distinguish between a reputable website and a scam is to look at what they’re offering and whether they ask for payment. If the offer is too good to be true and they ask for some kind of ‘membership’ payment, chances are, they’re a scam.
Legitimate survey sites often provide you with gift cards once you complete the survey, although there are some that send money directly into your bank account. You’ll typically receive $5-200 for each survey, though it usually on the lower end of this range. You should also know that you have to fit a target demographic, where you’ll have to answer questions on your age, gender, occupation, etc. If you don’t pass this, then you won’t be able to proceed. As you can probably tell, this is less of a job and more of a side hustle that can get you some extra cash.
Freelance writing is just one of the many home jobs that offer great flexibility, whether you do it as a part-time or full-time job. You can write or edit pieces all in the comfort of your own home. You can easily apply online by finding websites dedicated to freelance job postings. However, if you’re finding it difficult, you can always establish yourself on social media or create your own website to showcase your work. Keep in mind that while this is a viable career option, you’ll probably have to jump from company to company if you want to make a lot of money.
4. Test Websites
Website testing is as simple as it sounds: you get paid to use a website and to review both its functionality and accessibility. It basically boils down to making sure the site works as intended. It can take up to thirty minutes to test a website, though it can be as short as ten to fifteen minutes. When it comes to payment, it’s pretty small: typically you’ll probably receive around $10 for each website you test. Again, this is more of a supplementary income, but it’s still a great way to utilise your spare time.
5. Online Selling
Have you got a bunch of stuff that you have no use for anymore? Then put them up for sale on eBay, Etsy and Amazon. If you still want to sell things online but you don’t have anything stuffed in an attic somewhere, you might want to consider going to your local garage sales or op shops and resell the items online.
Yes, blogging can earn you money as well, though there are some drawbacks. It can be quite challenging to build up your blog where you can make money off of, but it is possible. As a blogger, you have to be patient. Find a topic that you’re passionate about, pick a target audience and discover a niche that will make you stand out from the crowd. Think about who your readers will be and promote to them by figuring out which websites they visit.
For bloggers, the most important skill is the ability to connect and engage. Whether that is through stories, education, information or images: the idea is to connect and engage an audience. You may have the most important message in the world, but if you can’t communicate it in a way that people can relate to, it’s just white noise
7. Online Tutoring
With the power of programs like Zoom, Skype and Google Hangouts, you can become a tutor who works purely online. You will obviously need to test these out and see which ones work for you, but other than that, online tutoring is similar to that of regular tutoring. To find students, you’ll either have to sign up for a private tuition company, find job postings online or market yourself if you want to establish your own online business. It’s also a good idea to really delve into the program that you want to use, along with ensuring that you have a good microphone and webcam.
