Supporting students within the classroom
While the teacher is busy conducting the lesson or marking assignments, you as a teacher’s aide have the chance to spend more time with the pupils on a one-on-one level or together as groups. You will be hands on in helping the children navigate their way through a task and help the individual to understand and develop their skill set. It may also be that you are supporting a child with disabilities both on an educational and emotional level ensuring that their needs are meet.
Play a role in the planning and running of the class
Those highly experienced teacher’s aides have the opportunity to work together with the teacher and assist in the planning of the daily lessons. In some cases you may even be able to take over the running of the class for the day, whilst the teacher supervises you and undertakes their administrative tasks.
